Chicago-based Luminair Film Productions and Frontera Media Productions won their first Tasty Award for the nationally televised cooking program “Mexico: One Plate at a Time with Rick Bayless,” edging out the nation’s top culinary programming.
“It’s great to have Scott [Dummler, director and editor of “Mexico”], Rick and the whole crew be recognized for their outstanding creative efforts,” said George Elder, executive producer of “Mexico” and president of Luminair. “The show is truly the product of creative collaboration and expert production.”
The show, which is filmed in Mexico and Chicago, is currently in preproduction for its eighth season. Luminair has been co-producing the show with Frontera Media for the past 5 seasons. “Mexico” topped award-winning program nominees “Cake Boss,” “Simply Ming,” “Cupcake Wars,” “Vegan a Go-Go,” and “Top Chef: Just Desserts” to clench the Tasty Award for Best Single Topic Series.
“We feel extremely honored to be in the company of such extraordinary programming,” said Manny Valdez, CEO of Frontera Media. “It reinforces our vision of ’Mexico’ as an exceptional and unique product in culinary television.“
The second-annual Tasty Awards honored the best in food, fashion and home lifestyle programs on TV, in film and online. Winners were selected by a panel of top industry professionals and viewer votes. Award recipients were announced January 13 at a red carpet award show in Hollywood, Ca.
