Between 250 and 300 people from the creative community in Detroit and beyond turned out for the opening party of the Cutters Detroit office last Thursday.

“It was a really great night for Detroit,” says Mary Connolly, executive producer of Cutters, Detroit. “We had an awesome turnout of clients from agencies in town, production companies, from our Chicago office and even LA.”

Entertainment for the evening was the Grammy Award-winning artist Luis Resto.

“It was such a warm and comfortable night that really felt like a celebration of our creative community in Detroit, and that’s what we tried to do, to make the night about Detroit,” Connolly says.

The opening of a Cutters office in Detroit shows, not only the creative company’s commitment to the city, but Connolly believes it shows there’s long-term potential in the city.

“I think we’ve always maintained a strong creative community in Detroit, but it has been challenging the last few years,” Connolly says. “The fact that Cutters has decided to expand into this market has shown what the business future, shown the adverting community, the potential it has for the future.”

The whole night felt very optimistic, she says.

“We couldn’t be more proud to be part of the Cutters culture and bring that here to Detroit,” Connolly says. “It was a way for people to get together and recognize the strength that this market has.”
