Editor Dean Gonzalez Joins Hootenanny

After cutting in Los Angeles for more than a decade, Editor Dean Gonzalez has returned to Chicago to join the staff of post production boutique Hootenanny.

Throughout his career, Gonzalez has cut not only the full range of commercial work but also music videos, television and film.

“I truly feel blessed to have worked on so many different projects,” Gonzalez says. “I love working on a film and then coming back to cut commercials. It gives me a larger scope editorially to tell those different stories. To then go work on a show like ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ is insane; it’s so fast-paced but exhilarating at the same time.”

For music videos, Gonzalez has worked with directors like Mark Pellington, Joaquin Phoenix and Jared Leto and artists like Kid Rock, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nicki Minaj and 30 Seconds to Mars.

“Working with Jared and 30 Seconds to Mars was such an amazing experience that included editing two videos and touring the world with them in 2011,” Gonzalez says.

That music video resume also led to a feature concert video for Green Day, “Heart Like A Hand Grenade.” He recently completed a narrative feature film for 2012 release directed by Dan Mirvish titled “Between Us” starring Julia Stiles, Taye Diggs, Melissa George and David Harbour.”

On commercials, Gonzalez has delivered for brands like Perrier, Captain Morgan, David Yurman and J. Crew. Most recently, he completed a package of spots for Busch Gardens. His first work in Chicago in coming days will be a package of spots for DeVry University with Leo Burnett.

“While LA was a great adventure, I’m happy to be home and joining the Hootenanny crew,” Gonzalez says.
