Noisefloor Snags John Wong

Audio Engineer John Wong has joined Chicago-based sound design company Noisefloor, Partner/Designer Cory Coken announced this week.

Wong has a speciality in talent voice overs and audio books and was most recently voice over director at talent agency Innovative Artists Chicago. He was working on the side at Noisefloor and the timing made sense to add him as the shop's fifth audio engineer, Coken says.

"He built a whole department around audio books and talent demo reels," Coken says. "We decided that the timing worked well for everyone."

Coken and partner Jamie Vanadia knew Wong from their days together at Avenue Edit where he was a designer/mixer. Working with Wong, Noisefloor has now completed their third audio book, "Pyxis: The Discovery" by KC Neil.

"John is also a huge addition to our voice casting department,” Vanadia says. “He knows a ton of great talent which is really going to help with our video game and commercial casting."

A Chicago native and graduate of Columbia College, Wong says that he's excited by the move.

"It gives me better flexibility and options to expand on my audio books work," he says. "I can pursue more and because I worked at Innovative for three years, I also met a lot of actors and actresses, so I'd been doing a lot of documentary and film work on the side. I was struggling to balance all these side jobs and I reached a point where I realized that I can do this full time."

"It feels great to have part of our family back,” Vanadia says. “It has been super easy with John just slipping back in. We were a team for six years at Avenue and that made it super easy to get right back into a groove."
