Mix Kitchen composer/remixer Craig J. Snider was tapped to score the latest documentary by acclaimed director Steve James. “Head Games,” which chronicles the devastating effects of concussions in competitive and professional sports, was released in major markets across the U.S. and on iTunes this past Friday, September 21. The film features Snider’s score and songs by the Smashing Pumpkins’ Billy Corgan. Mix Kitchen’s Sam Fishkin supervised the sound design and mixed the final surround and stereo audio for the theatrical and download releases.
Director James shot to national attention for “Hoop Dreams,” which was placed on numerous best movie/documentary lists including those of the Los Angeles Film Critics, Chicago Film Critics, New York Film Critics Circle, and the Directors Guild of America. His latest offering, “Head Games,” just won Best Documentary at the 28th annual Boston Film Festival and has met with glowing reviews.
Snider was recommended to James by “Head Games” Executive producer Hank Neuberger, and by Peabody award winning filmmaker Maria Finitzo based on Snider’s score for her film “Life Lessons.”
