Chicago-based Utopic has signed Editor Katherine Pryor to their post-production division, the company announced yesterday.
Pryor has edited commercials and campaigns with an extensive list of agencies including Leo Burnett, McGarryBowen, Ogilvy & Mather, DDB, Y&R, Downtown Partners and Walton Isaacson; for brands such as Hallmark, Kraft, Miracle Whip, Safeway, ESPN, Sears, and Walgreens.
Pryor tends to approach projects from an emotional standpoint, she says.
“I think an editor's first instinct is really important and I try to stick with my gut throughout the process,” says Pryor. "It's all about connecting with who and what I see on screen. There really is nothing like finding those perfect little moments to tell a great 30 second story."
A native of the Kansas City area, Pryor received her BA in Film at Columbia College Chicago and began working in post-production almost 13 years ago.
“I am looking forward to working with Kat,” says Utopic’s Post Executive Production Heather Mitchell. “She brings a great energy and passion for the craft. She is a perfect fit with the Utopic culture.” “I appreciate what established editors Jan Maitland and Tim Kloehn have created at Utopic and I look forward to bringing my vision to the team,” says Pryor.
