The Call Sheet

CHICAGO FIRE SPINOFF? Rumors continue to swirl about the possible spinoff series to the NBC popular freshman series CHICAGO FIRE… One thing is certain: the season finale on May 15 or 22 (directed by our fave Northwestern grad Joe Chappelle) will definitely feature guest appearances by Scott Eastwood (yep, Clint’s kid) and Melissa Sagemiller (LAW AND ORDER: SVU, SLEEPER CELL) in a scene that introduces them as the firefighters’ attractive associates over on the cop side. Eastwood and Sagemiller are reportedly cast to star in the yet-to-be-named and yet-to-be-confirmed spinoff series so it would seem all of the pieces are in place here… and what does the legendary Dick Wolf have to say about all of this? "There is always talk about every possible permutation of what could happen," Wolf told reporters at NBC's Summer press day on Monday. "I'm always optimistic.” Fair enough. We’ll keep you posted.

CHICAGO FIRE RENEWED FOR SECOND SEASON? It would be difficult to imagine a spinoff to CHICAGO FIRE without the actual CHICAGO FIRE still on the air, but NBC has yet to officially renew Chicago Fire for a second season, Mr. Wolf, again at the summer press day for NBC this week, is very hopeful… "We are optimistically looking at the end of this season as a jumping off point for next season," Wolf said. "Hopefully, a month from now, we'll have all the arcs of the second season planned out."

CAPTAIN AMERICA IN CLEVELAND: I had mentioned a few months ago that Ohio had reeled in another big superhero blockbuster CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER. Shoot dates are set for May 18 through June 14. Reportedly the Captain America shoot will possibly have an even greater local economic impact than THE AVENGERS did filming here two years ago, which is good to hear! Cast for CAPTAIN AMERICA includes Chris Evans as Cap, Scarlett Johannson as Black Widow, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Anthony Mackie as the Falcon (love that they’re bringing in the Falcon) and the one and only Robert Redford.

CHAMPAIGN FEATURE CASTING: The indie feature THE GARDEN OF CHLOE is currently casting, they’ll be filming a pilot in Champaign this summer then plan to begin principal photography on the feature in Spring 2014, over seven weekends, approximately mid February to late May or early June. In GARDEN OF CHLOE, a middle aged, free spirited performance arts teacher moves with her companions, to the small town and house of her childhood. Their eclectic and playful bohemian world does not fit the small conservative town. I’ve posted all casting info and details over at www.facebook.com/midwestfilm - break a leg!

GRACEFULLY GALENA: A Chicago production team is currently over in Galena filming the microbudget indie drama THE OTHER ONE, which tells the supernatural story of a broken teacher returning to her childhood home three years after her own personal tragedy. She must help her mother, now in the throes of dementia, and come to terms with dark family secrets and learn how live in and with her new reality. The team includes Grace McPhillips, who is co-producing and starring in the film, DP Christian Hins, sound designer Cory Coken of NoiseFloor and writer-director Joe Steiff.
