OHIO READY TO CAROL: The Greater Cincinnati Film Commission announced the major motion picture CAROL will be shooting in Cincinnati this coming spring. CAROL stars Academy Award winner Cate Blanchett (THE AVIATOR, ELIZABETH) and Oscar nom Rooney Mara (THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO), will be directed by Todd Haynes (FAR FROM HEAVEN, also an Oscar nom), producers include Christine Vachon of Killer Films. CHICAGO CHRISTMAS: CHRISTMAS BYTES is a coming-of-age comedy set in 1982. Best friends Scottie Pickford and Gary Green, freshmen in high school, dedicate their few remaining days before Christmas to the loftiest of adolescent pursuits: video games and girls. Gary wants an Atari 2600 game console. His pal Pickford? A girlfriend. A film about 8-bit schemes, arcade dreams & first love… Chicago’s Duncan Riddell (OLDER CHILDREN) is directing with Sandra and Geoff Murillo producing, based on a script by renowned Chicago playwright Brett Neveu. Filming is set to begin in the Chicago area in February. Casting is under way, the film has drawn interest from Michael Shannon, Amy Acker, Ken Marino and Justin Chatwin. HELLO FROM JEKYLL ISLAND: The indie thriller A CONSPIRACY ON JEKYLL ISLAND wrapped up filming in Chicago this month. Aram Rappaport directs this film, starring Minnie Driver (GOOD WILL HUNTING), GLEE star Dianna Agron, John Leguizamo (CARLITO’S WAY) and Frank Grillo (PRISON BREAK). JEKYLL ISLAND follows an ex-Wall Street man (played by Grillo) whom the Secretary of the Treasury enlists to thwart a cyber attack that threatens to derail the American economy. With the help of his wife, he recruits his rag tag team of misfits, and prepares to save the world from total financial implosion. REMEMBER THE LITTLE THINGS: Midwest production company Chicago Talkies has launched its first feature film project, the relationship drama IT’S THE LITTLE THINGS. Pre-production started in October, principal photography commenced this month and will continue into the spring, with an anticipated Summer 2014 release. Chicago director Raza Siddiqui leads a team that includes screenwriter Vicky Neal, actors Walt Sloan and Danny Glenn, plus DePaul grads DP Eddie Aviniashi and producer David Collins.
