The Call Sheet

UNDEREMPLOYED NOW UNEMPLOYED? No verdict from MTV on UNDEREMPLOYED just yet but it’s not looking so good. The show built a loyal fan base, just might not be enough to bring the show back for round two. In December, MTV relegated the sitcom to Saturday nights, probably not the best slot for a series target the youngsters. Ratings were lackluster, averaging just a 0.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 490,000 viewers while series like TEEN WOLF averaged a 0.7 rating and 1.69 million viewers. I’ll keep you posted on this Chicago-shot series; in the meantime, you can check out past episodes of UNDEREMPLOYED here: http://www.mtv.com/shows/underemployed/series.jhtml.
SIRENS SOUNDING AGAIN: The Denis Leary-produced SIRENS for USA Network that filmed in Chicago last fall is back in town for some reshoots this week, most likely March 21-22. The comedy follows three EMTs described as "sometimes self-loathing, other times narcissistic, and always downright self-destructive personalities." All of these traits apparently make it difficult for them to maintain relationships, friendships and jobs. They're also "uniquely qualified for saving anyone unlucky enough to wind up in their ambulance." If picked up, SIRENS is expected to film in Chicago, we’ll keep you posted!
POWERS UPDATE: Yes the FX series POWERS is still alive but it’s not the best news for any Chicagoans that worked on the pilot. FX president John Landgraf stated in a recent interview that while the series is still alive and several additional episode scripts have been developed, the pilot filmed in Chicago in 2011 “is officially gone and dead, and the actors are all gone, but we’re developing a whole new pilot from scratch.”
LEGENDS IN CHICAGO? The TNT pilot LEGENDS wound up filming in Los Angeles but if picked up, the hope is that the series would film in Chicago. Steve Harris (THE PRACTICE) co-stars as Yates in this dramatic series centering on an undercover CIA operative (played by Sean Bean of LORD OF THE RINGS fame) who is also a chameleon of sorts, able transform himself into a different person for each job. LEGENDS is based on the novel by Robert Littell and produced by Howard Gordon, who worked with Harris on the series AWAKE. I’ll keep you posted on this one, let’s see how the pilot turns out.
THREESOME STILL UNDERWAY: and of course, the Steve Zahn pilot INFLUENCE, the legal drama DOUBT and BETRAYAL, directed by the great Patty Jenkins (MONSTER) continue shooting in and around Chicago all month…
SEVIGNY SCORES! This one is filming out west but I had to mention it… Congratulations to Chicago actor Sara Sevigny on landing the co-starring role of “Kathy Klabunde” on the upcoming pilot THE GABRIELS, alongside Angela Kinsey (THE OFFICE), Rob Riggle (THE HANGOVER) and SNL alum and fellow Chicagoan Tim Meadows. THE GABRIELS centers on a gleefully antisocial family learning to act normal and make friends for the sake of their kids. Sara is an ensemble member at the inimitable Factory Theatre here in Chicago. Congratulations, Sara! Have fun out west!
Is your film heading into production? Please drop me a note at firstname.lastname@example.org and tell me all about it. I’ll do my best to include it in “The Call Sheet.”
