NBC series CRISIS lands in Chicago
May 10, 2013 by Mike McNamara
CRISIS WELCOMED: NBC has picked up the conspiracy thriller CRISIS and reportedly the series will be filming in Chicago.
The drama is being written and executive produced by Rand Ravich (THE ASTRONAUT’S WIFE, the former NBC series LIFE) and stars Dermot Mulroney and Gillian Anderson.
CRISIS reportedly centers on an unlikely puppeteer who will bring everyone from CEOs to the president of the United States to their knees by threatening the things they hold most dear.
Mulroney stars as Bill Gibson, the meek-looking man who is a chaperone of the ill-fated private school bus that is mysteriously abducted. He's divorced from his wife and estranged from his daughter, Beth Ann (played by newcomer Stevie Lynn Jones), who is a passenger on the bus and with whom he's anxious to reconnect.
Additionally, Max Martini (REVENGE) has joined the cast as Koz, a well-armed and deadly mercenary behind the abduction.
It’s been a busy year for Mulroney, who has been popping up on the Fox series NEW GIRL lately and who will be opposite Julia Roberts in AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY (the masterful play from our very own Tracy Letts), which is set for November.
And in non-Midwest TV news, I am pleased to report that NBC has finally canceled the amazingly unfunny WHITNEY, around two seasons later than it should have… better late than never!
Is your film or pilot heading into production? Please drop me a note at firstname.lastname@example.org and tell me all about it. I’ll do my best to include it in “The Call Sheet.”
