EMPIRE Picked Up for Full Season?

Greetings from the rumor mill! I’ve been hearing so much lately about several of these Chicago series and potential Chicago series that I felt the need to whip up a quick update…

EMPIRE PICKED UP FOR FULL SEASON? Please note: I am simply communicating what rumblings I am hearing around town, no official announcements of any kind have been made but I’ve heard enough to warrant a write-up. And this shouldn’t come as a huge surprise as the pilot is loaded with Oscar noms and Emmy winners and superstars but it seems to be widely expected that Fox will pick up the hip-hop drama EMPIRE for a full season. Again, with Oscar nominated actors Terence Howard and Taraji P. Henson starring and Oscar nominated director Lee Daniels running the show, it shouldn’t come as a huge shock that all early signs are pointing toward the pilot being given a full season by Fox. No official confirmation on that, and no news on where the series would shoot if picked up… but as the pilot wraps up shooting this month, everything seems to be heading in the right direction.

CHICAGO MEDICAL STILL ALIVE? And I’ll repeat that I am only hearing rumblings here but multiple sources have mentioned to me that the CHICAGO MEDICAL spin-off of the recently renewed CHICAGO PD and CHICAGO FIRE series might not have fully flatlined just yet. Earlier this year, NBC had decided not to move forward with this third Chicago series from the great Dick Wolf and his team, but I’m hearing that the prospects for CHICAGO MEDICAL are still alive and kicking and that we’ll be hearing more in the near future. As always, I’ll keep you posted.

SUPERNATURAL-ISH: What was initially expected to be a full pilot shoot in Chicago for the CW SUPERNATURAL spin-off from producer Jim Michaels and friends ultimately amounted to a one-week shoot in Chicago and a many-week shoot in Vancouver. Not great, considering the pilot and its band of werewolves, shape-shifters and the like are specifically stationed in the Windy City for this tale. We’ll see where the full series ends up should it get the greenlight…
