The Call Sheet

CHICAGO INDIE SET FOR FALL: The feature film ASYMPTOTES, written and directed by Edward Pionke, is currently ramping up for a Chicago shoot this September through November. The film centers on a teacher who moves in with his sister after leaving his former place of residence and teaching position under mysterious circumstances. Tension develops as the sister learns more about what happened and the potential consequences given thier current circumstances. This psychological drama seeks to explore the limits of relationships and the question of how well a person can really know another or oneself for that matter. The ASYMPTOTES cast features Chicago talents Vanessa Hughes, Casey Chapman and Mackenzie Wiglesworth.

ASYMPTOTES is still accepting submissions for Director of Photography and Script Supervisor. You can send submissions (for these positions only!) to Assistant Director J.C. Farris at

TAKE A SHOT AT MILWAUKEE: Filming continues this month for SNAP SHOT, the sophomore feature from Milwaukee filmmaker Frankie Latina. In SNAP SHOT, a fashion photographer gets more than he bargained for when a roll of film in a used camera contains sinister imagery. Cast includes MACHETE's Danny Trejo and Mark Borchardt of AMERICAN MOVIE fame, crew includes Chicago producer Amanda Pflieger. Latina brought in an impressive sum of more than $76,000 via kickstarter last year, more about this feature from SCREEN’s Julian Axelrod later this month…

KICKING THE BUCKET: Chicago's Lucas Brothers are hoping to kickstart their upcoming documentary BUCKET to completion. BUCKET is a feature length doc about kids from Chicago who put their percussive Drummer skills to work for everyday survival. Eleven days left in this kickstarter... will you pitch in?

FINISHED SURFACE: Director Gil Cates and his Wisconsin team have wrapped up post production and are now ramping up for a long run on the festival circuit. THE SURFACE is the story of Mitch (Sean Astin of LORD OF THE RINGS and RUDY fame) and Kelly (superb veteran actor Chris Mulkey, credits include FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS, CAPTAIN PHILLIPS and my personal fave THE FAN with DeNiro), two strangers, both at the end of their rope, who suddenly meet in the middle of the unpredictable waters of Lake Michigan. Through desperation, and hope, they begin to lean on each other as they struggle to stay alive. Follow this film on its festival run on facebook and at

SOUTH SIDE MINDY: The independent feature MIND OVER MINDY wraps up filming in the south suburbs of Chicago this week. MINDY marks the seventh feature for director Robert Alaniz of Sole Productions, whose team includes actors Shannon Brown, Brandon Galatz, Anne Hagemann, Jonna Johnson and Laura Ann Parry and co-producers Jeff Marsten and Gary Gow. In MINDY, A middle-aged man's troubled relationship with his fiancee becomes even more complex when his teen-aged ex-girlfriend from 1989 walks out of his dreams and into his bed in the 21st century, as we watch him struggle with deciding to embrace or let go of the past. Those 80’s just keep coming back to haunt us…

Heading into production? Drop me a line anytime and I'll do my best to include it in the Call Sheet.
