NBC has confirmed that the network has ordered two more episodes of the mid-season drama CHICAGO PD, increasing the total to fifteen episodes. This news comes on the heels of the freshman series earning ratings gains for the second straight week, winning the 9 pm Central hour for NBC on Wednesday night (see the full report from Hollywood Reporter here)
CHICAGO PD opened with a bang on Wednesday, January 8th, posting the second highest drama debut on all networks this season at the 9 pm CST time slot (full SCREEN story here). The series is currently shooting in Chicago and will now extend its initial February 20th wrap date into March.
CHICAGO PD comes from Emmy Award-winning executive producer Dick Wolf. This riveting police drama follows the men and women of the Chicago Police Department's District 21 who put it all on the line to serve and protect their community. District 21 is made up of two distinctly different groups: the uniformed cops who patrol the beat and go head-to-head with the city's street crimes and the Intelligence Unit that combats the city's major offenses - organized crime, drug trafficking, high profile murders and beyond. The vast responsibilities that these jobs entail extend far beyond the walls of the precinct, often taking an emotional toll on personal lives of these men and women.
