July 30, 2014 by Screenmag
In the latest installment of our regular-running feature Scott Marvel, president at Daily Planet, answers Five Questions With SCREEN.
SCREEN: Can you cook? If so, what is your go-to dish?
MARVEL: Yes. I make Snobby Joes, a lentil-based version of Sloppy Joes.
SCREEN: What are you listening to?
MARVEL: First, El Patrón (95.5 on your radio dial). Tejano music has taken me over this summer. Tubas, accordians, clarinets, really tight snare drum fills and very up-front vocals. I don't have a clue what the songs are about, but I can't stop listening.
Second, The Steve Dahl Network. He's in his basement podcasting and is as funny as ever.
Third, Exploring Music (exploringmusic.org). Host Bill McGlaughlin takes you on a classical music journey with themed programs. I don't know much about the inner workings of classical music, but it relaxes me.
SCREEN: What's your guilty pleasure TV?
MARVEL: Sponge Bob Squarepants.
SCREEN: Describe your perfect Sunday.
MARVEL: A cup of black coffee on the back porch. Then brunch with my family. Then sitting on our front steps watching my daughter play with her friends while enjoying a few Picklodkas with my neighbors. Once my daughter goes to bed, watch some TV with my wife. Then head down to the basement to print tshirts while listening to an episode of Joe Frank on WBEZ.
SCREEN: What's your favorite drink, alcoholic or otherwise?
MARVEL: Steigl Radler in the summer. Magic Hat #9 year round.
SCREEN: What's your favorite place to spend: a weekend? a week? two weeks?
MARVEL: A weekend: The beach in Michigan City. A week: New York. Two weeks: Ireland
