Taylor Kinney Joins Champaign Indie FOOD
June 2, 2014 by Mike McNamara
CHICAGO FIRE star Taylor Kinney can't get enough of Illinois. While the NBC hit TV series is on break before starting up for Season Three, Kinney heads south to Champaign for the independent political thriller FOOD.
We introduced you to FOOD here on the Call Sheet earlier this spring as the filmmakers were in the midst of pre-production. Filming is now in full swing, beginning last Tuesday, and will continue through June in and around Champaign. FOOD is being directed by Daryl Wein, written by Wein and his lead actress Zoe Lister-Jones. Brett Hays of Champaign-based Shatterglass Studios is onboard as producer.
The project continues to load up its cast with talent, adding Anthony Edwards of E.R. fame, Kunal Nayyar from THE BIG BANG THEORY and the great Danny Glover, not to mention some tremendous Chicago talent via the good folks at Paskal Rudnicke Casting.
The story follows a midwestern mother, played by Lister-Jones, who's son gets mysteriously sick. Interwoven are the stories of a powerful CEO struggling with his son's autism, an organic farmer fighting to save his farm, and two scientists on the brink of a major discovery all dealing with the new world of GMO products.
I’ll keep you posted!
