Christopher Nolen Feature Filming This Month
June 6, 2014 by Mike McNamara
Chicago director Christopher Nolen (Nolen with an “e” not an “a” a la THE DARK KNIGHT) and his talented cast and crew will begin filming the romantic comedy 72 HOURS next week in Chicago and the South suburbs. The film follows reformed playboy Cleavon “Von” Burkett after he negotiates with God for 72 hours on Earth to right a lifetime worth of heartbreak.
Naturally there is plenty of Chicago talent in this production. Chicago natives Harry Lennix (MAN OF STEEL, THE BLACKLIST, BARBERSHOP) and Erica Hubbard (the BET romcom LET’S STAY TOGETHER) headline this cast, which also includes Timon Kyle Durrett (VH1 series SINGLE LADIES), Terri Vaughn (STEVE HARVEY SHOW) and Cynda Williams (INTRODUCING DOROTHY DANDRIDGE). Crew includes producer Natasha Parker, best known as a location manager for Chicago series like CHICAGO FIRE, SIRENS and EMPIRE, and unit production manager Mary Angela Munez, whose resume includes work on TRANSFORMERS, CRISIS and CHICAGO FIRE.
Nolen’s directorial credits include THE GOOD LIFE, currently in rotation on BET, and FOUR SEASONS, which is expected to premiere on the network later this year.
As the team preps for next week’s start, everything seems to be going smoothly. UPM Munez commented, “Christopher exhibits the type of leadership that's more about giving each person value as a part of the bigger picture. He recognizes that the whole thing can't happen without each piece. He has the rare ability to inspire people to push themselves more than they normally would and do it with a smile and pride in their work.”
In 72 HOURS, a reformed womanizer, Cleavon “Von” Burkett (Timon Kyle Durrett) was living the good life with a beautiful wife and dream job- until one day he wasn’t. With his health taking the back burner in his busy lifestyle, it soon catches up with him as he’s faced with God (Harry Lennix) himself after a heart attack. In an attempt to bargain for a second chance at life, Von has 72 hours to right the romantic wrongs he's made to all of his exes. With the help of his best friend (Brian Hooks) and the determination to live, Von embarks on a hilarious journey to seek redemption and soon realizes that heaven nor hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.
72 HOURS films in the suburb of South Holland and the city of Chicago from June 9th through the 20th. Cast and crew are set; if that changes, we’ll be sure post to our SCREEN Magazine Classifieds.
