Jason Segel, Jesse Eisenberg, James Ponsoldt Filming in Michigan

Oscar nom Jesse Eisenberg (THE SOCIAL NETWORK), Jason Segel (FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL) and director Jason Ponsoldt (THE SPECTACULAR NOW and the underrated SMASHED) are currently filming the indie feature THE END OF THE TOUR in West Michigan.
The film is based on the true events of a four-day long interview conducted by Rolling Stone Magazine writer, David Lipsky (played by Segel) with acclaimed author David Foster Wallace (played by Eisenberg). The interview took place in the final days of Wallace’s 1996 book tour promoting his landmark novel, “Infinite Jest.” The road movie is an extended dramatic and comedic conversation between the two men exploring women, depression, writing, success and jealousy.
The five-week shoot in the Grand Rapids and West Michigan areas is scheduled to wrap the week of March 24th. On a very positive note, all but two of the 26 scheduled principal-photography days will take place locally, with one day in New York City and one in Minneapolis.
On the tax incentive side of things, the Michigan Film Office awarded THE END OF THE TOUR an incentive of $495,380 on $2,105,652 of projected in-state expenditures. The project is expected to hire 66 Michigan workers with a full time equivalent of 12 jobs.
Once Jesse Eisenberg wraps THE END OF THE TOUR, he'll be sticking around in Michigan to step into the shoes of Lex Luthor on the SUPERMAN V. BATMAN mega-budget production, which has also begun filming. Not a bad month for Mr. Eisenberg.
