Production and post house Optimus has announced that Editor Gordon Carey has signed on for representation in the Midwest and West Coast regions. With more than 20 years of experience cutting commercials, Carey has worked with many of the best agencies and directors in the business. His spots have won awards ranging from the AICE Editing Award, Cannes Gold Lion, One Show Pencil, Clio, Belding and Emmy Award.
“I am excited to be working with Gordon again,” said Optimus Executive Producer Therese Hunsberger. “His comedic style brings added dimension to the Optimus team. We've had a history of doing great work together, and I look forward to doing more.”
Carey spent the majority of his career at Filmcore – where he and Hunsberger first worked together – and then most recently at Butcher Editorial. He has been entrusted by clients to roll out high profile campaigns including: ESPN's "This is SportsCenter" for Wieden + Kennedy; Holiday Inn's "Meet Mark" for Fallon; and Toyota's "Mommy and Daddy Like" for Saatchi & Saatchi. He recently finished projects for AT&T, Yahoo Fantasy Baseball and Straight Talk Wireless. Gordon also cut the much-revered "Cat Herders" for EDS, which first aired during Super Bowl XXXIV. This marked one of six times his spots have appeared on the Super Bowl. "Cat Herders" is widely recognized as one of the top Super Bowl commercials of all time. “Therese produced many of my most notable projects at Filmcore and we have stayed in touch over the years,” said Carey. “I had always hoped to collaborate with her again, and now I’m thrilled to have a chance to do so at Optimus. President Tom Duff and his team in Chicago have such tremendous reputations, and Therese has done a great job building up the Santa Monica office. This is such an excellent opportunity to be part of a winning – and growing – team.”
