SUPERNATURAL Spinoff Nixed
May 9, 2014 by Julian Axelrod & Mike McNamara
The CW has announced it will not be moving forward with SUPERNATURAL: BLOODLINES, the spinoff of the popular series SUPERNATURAL that the network has been developing since last year.
This news comes as a bit of a surprise. With the flagship SUPERNATURAL series recently being renewed for a tenth season and boasting a rabid fan base, the prospects for a spinoff show seemed relatively high. Anticipation was building for BLOODLINES, bloggers were blogging, the stage was set… However, after the backdoor pilot aired last week as a SUPERNATURAL episode, fan reaction to the pilot was largely negative. An informal poll conducted by EW.com showed only a third of viewers thought it was worth continuing.

The spinoff, which was set in Chicago, filmed part of its pilot in the Windy City before completing shooting in Vancouver earlier this year. While producers had not announced where the show would be filmed if it went to series, fans of both Chicago-based television and the long-running fantasy series were rooting for the spinoff to be picked up.
Unfortunately, both groups now have little choice but to hope the paramedics on SIRENS start tending to monsters.
