HENRY GAMBLE'S BIRTHDAY PARTY Off to Auspicious Start
June 25, 2015 by Screenmag
Chicago-made HENRY GAMBLE’S BIRTHDAY PARTY is set for its New York premiere at the prestigious BAMcinemaFest Thursday, June 25th. The PARTY is off to an auspicious start with Filmmaker Magazine and Time Out New York declaring the film one of the must-see’s of the fest, deeming PARTY "a coming out story for the ages."
HENRY GAMBLE'S BIRTHDAY PARTY is the follow-up to Chicago-based director Stephen Cone’s award-winning Austin Pendleton-starrer Black Box and his Outfest-winning NY Times Critics Pick THE WISE KIDS, the latter of which appeared on four Best of 2011 lists, including those of the Chicago Tribune’s Michael Phillips and the Chicago Reader’s J. R. Jones.
Set entirely at a questioning preacher’s kid’s 17th birthday pool party, Cone returns to the thrillingly complicated world of sex and religion, examining even more intimately and profoundly the theme of identity in middle America.
