Forget about DIVERGENT 2 or BATMAN 3 or whatever else, if there's one sequel that absolutely, positively HAS to shoot in Chicago, it's BARBERSHOP 3. And it's heading to Atlanta.

After my article yesterday celebrating that the long-awaited BARBERSHOP 3 is finally a go, I soon received word from some press pals in the Southeast that the storyline set in the South Side of Chicago would be heading to Atlanta. I reached out to the BARBERSHOP team directly and soon confirmed that yes, BARBERSHOP 3 will begin production in Atlanta in May.

Hopefully this turn of events will help to light a fire under the Illinois legislature to consider ramping up our incentives to better compete for these big-budget studio movies that have been heading elsewhere. Our film tax credit program has been extremely successful here in Illinois, but further incentives for the above-the-line spend on these big-budget films are needed for us to continue to thrive.

But hey, on a positive note, a Forbes article this week declared that "Chicago Takes Over Primetime" and we have four series shooting here this year with hopefully one or two more coming around the bend.

As Madeleine Berg said in her Forbes article, "Chicagoans are known for their character: a mixture of Midwestern sensibility, urban sophistication and unique enthusiasm, all of which add a sense of refreshing interest to the more conventional television characters of a New York power player, dressed in black, or the California free spirit, eating her acai bowl." Truth, Maddie. Truth!
