SET TO SHOOT IN OCTOBER: Director Mark Vadik and Producer Tom Bastounes are ramping up to begin filming the feature A CHANCE IN THE WORLD, October 23 thru November 20 in Chicago. The film is based on the award winning novel A Chance in the World: An Orphan Boy, a Mysterious Past, and How He Found a Place Called Home by Steve Pemberton. A CHANCE IN THE WORLD is the true story of Steve Pemberton, a wounded and broken boy destined to become a man of resilience and vision. From the day he is five-years-old and dropped off at his foster home of the next eleven years, Steve is mentally and physically tortured by his foster mother Betty, her husband and his foster siblings. Desperate for a sense of family and belonging, Steve searches for his biological parents, and soon learns he has to fight in any way he can to succeed in life and that family is not only determined by blood.

SOUTHSIDE SCI-FI: BAR STAR CITY is ramping up to begin shooting this fall. According to writer-director Ytasha L. Womack, “BAR STAR CITY is a sci-fi/Afrofuturist feature film that follows a Southside Bar Owner who discovers that his haunt is a portal to other worlds. We're shooting in Chicago, we're featuring an all-Chicago cast with rocker Obi Soulstar, artists Fanta Cela and Kfleye as well as the amazing Harold Dennis.” Tiffany Tapley and Aisha Murff are co-producing the film for Womack. WHILE WE’RE TALKING ABOUT SCI-FI: Producers Katherine Imp and Keaton Wooden currently developing the feature film LANDERS. Written by Keaton Wooden and Donald Gecewicz, LANDERS is a sci-fi fantasy following seven misfits who are selected by a supercomputer to be the first colonists on another planet, and how the prospect turns their lives upside down. WEST SIDE DEVELOPMENT: Producer-Screenwriter Ms. Shawn D. Price is currently in development on her upcoming feature CHICAGO STORY, a period crime drama based on true events. According to Ms. Price, “CHICAGO STORY is an entertaining historical and humanistic, emotional tale about a group of guys on the West Side of Chicago who began as neighborhood-focused social activists in 1966, then take their eyes off of the prize and navigate through the effects of the war on poverty, drugs and crime… or Life During War Times.” She further adds, “We’re looking forward to shooting in Chicago, featuring well-known acting and directing talent, and we can’t wait to employ the best Chicago cast and crew we can.” Producer Kimberly Calhoun-Boling (PREMONITION, FACTORY GIRL, BUG) is also working with Ms. Price as a producer on this film.
