When the finale to the CHICAGO FIRE + P.D. + MED crossover earlier this month spent much of the hour in the courtroom, it was definitely a positive sign for the oft-rumored CHICAGO LAW. When that episode led to outstanding Wednesday night ratings for NBC, the prospects for CHICAGO LAW were through the roof.

SCREEN posted news last week about CHICAGO LAW's much-improved prospects following positive "hints" from CHICAGO FIRE Executive Producer and the most popular man in Chicago, Dick Wolf, at the Television Critics Association's winter press tour. Thursday, NBC validated those hints in an official announcement.

"Dick Wolf has been responsible for some of the biggest hits in NBC history, including SVU and the current three Chicago dramas, Fire, P.D. and Med," NBC's president of entertainment Jennifer Salke said Thursday in a statement. "The Chicago universe will continue to grow as we are in active development on Chicago Law (working title)."

The fourth 'Chicago' installment would give Mr. Wolf five shows on NBC if LAW & ORDER: SVU and CHICAGO MED are renewed. With five additional episodes being ordered for MED's freshman season and SVU's numbers just hitting a season high, the chances are looking favorable there.

As always, I'll keep you posted. In the meantime, click here to check out to catch up your favorite Chicago shows. Before you know it, you'll hopefully have FOUR Chicago shows to keep up with so you might as well get started now.
