Female Filmmakers Night Coming Up Tuesday

First Tuesdays with The Midwest Independent Film Festival presents its annual Female Filmmakers Night on Tuesday, August 2nd at Landmark’s Century Centre Cinema, 2828 North Clark beginning at 6 p.m. This year's roster of filmmakers is packed with premieres and festival winners directed by women from throughout the Midwest. Filmmakers will be in attendance for a post-screening discussion with the audience.

Click here for the full lineup of fifteen shorts films, all made in the Midwest, all directed by women.

Here are a few notable highlights among the fifteen films:

The lineup includes the latest from Sundance veteran and Chicago/Indiana filmmaker Jennifer Reeder, entitled CRYSTAL LAKE, as well as the Chicago Premiere of the comedy SPUNKLE, written by and starring Fawzia Mirza. Mirza and Reeder will be teaming up right after the fest on Tuesday as their feature SIGNATURE MOVE heads into production in August. Both filmmakers will be in attendance at the film festival Tuesday night.

Award-winning Chicago playwright Mia McCullough will be making her big screen debut with the World Premiere of PARALLEL, which she wrote (as you would expect) and directed.

The slate of films includes new work from a number of women in the animation world, including Cristen Leifheit, Lisa Barcy and Jenna Caravello, all of whom will be premiering their work on Tuesday evening.

FEMALE FILMMAKERS NIGHT will feature work from women throughout the Midwest, including producer Rani Deighe Crowe and her Ohio team in TEXTING: A LOVE STORY, and Wisconsin director Kara Mulrooney with her documentary short AN EVENING AT ANGELO'S.
