Emmy and Golden Globe Winner Headlining KC Feature
July 29, 2016 by Mike McNamara
Emmy Award-Winning and two-time Golden Globe recipient Shelley Long (“Cheers," “The Brady Bunch Movie," "Modern Family") joins the cast of "Different Flowers," the debut feature film from Kansas City native Morgan Dameron. The film, which begins production this August, is a road trip dramedy that follows two sisters with a rocky relationship who embark on a unique journey of discovery together. Written and directed by Morgan Dameron, and produced by Dameron and David Karp, "Different Flowers" has attracted a stellar cast, with Emma Bell (Terrance Davies’ “A Quiet Passion,” "The Walking Dead," “Dallas,” "Frozen") and Hope Lauren ("Supergirl," "Awkward," "Togetherness") starring in leading roles as sisters Millie and Emma, and Rob Mayes ("Mistresses") and Sterling Knight ("17 Again," “Melissa & Joey”) rounding out this talented cast. Shelley Long will also produce.
The project is proud to be filming in Kansas City, and to participate in the KCMO Film Development program. Earlier this year the City of Kansas City implemented its first ever local filming incentive program that was passed in February and in May 2016. The program encourages productions to film in Kansas City, use local Kansas City talent, businesses, and artists. Kansas City film commissioner, Steph Scupham says, “The creation of this program communicated to filmmaker Morgan Dameron and the industry at large that Kansas City wants this business and our city to be the backdrop for films and television shows that elevate our presence on a larger stage. The program positively impacts the economy of Kansas City as it monitors the direct spend in KCMO, brings new work opportunities, offers experience for our local crews and students of film, and generates publicity to the city that can result in increased tourism.”
"On behalf of all of the KC natives, transplants and enthusiasts in the “Different Flowers” family, we are so proud to be filming here. We feel very welcomed by the community and can't wait to introduce our amazing team to the warmth that Kansas City has to offer. Seriously, it's gonna be a warm August," Dameron mused.
“Different Flowers” will be 100% filmed in and around the Kansas City metropolitan area.
