Onion, NBC Digital Writers Headline Comedy Panel Tonight

Every First Tuesday of the month, the Chicago-based Midwest Independent Film Festival celebrates the best in Midwest filmmaking and every First Tuesday, the fest kicks off the night with a Producers Panel bringing together several key members of the film, television and advertising production community. Tonight, the fest's Producers Panel is all about comedy, and will be placing four talented comedy content creators in the spotlight.

The Onion's Creative Marketing Director (also a former Copywriter for Energy BBDO) is Hassan Ali; in addition to comedy writing, Ali is writing and creating branded content for clients Progressive Insurance, Allegra and Intel, including the "Dr. Jimm" campaign with Saturday Night Live standout Kenan Thompson.

Bobby Richards is the co-creator (alongside Avery Lee) of NBC Digital's new series BOBBY & IZA. The pilot won the NBC PLAYGROUND competition, the network's national search to find the next ground-breaking comedy series. To help select the winners, NBC held an online vote and also brought together an impressive Advisory Board that included Jason Bateman, Amy Poehler, Seth Meyers, Mindy Kaling and Adam McKay.

Writer, actor and executive producer Samantha Bailey is one of the filmmakers behind the Tribeca Film Festival recognized and Gotham Award nominated web series YOU'RE SO TALENTED (Best Breakthrough Series Short Form Nominee) and heads into production on her new series BROWN GIRLS this summer.

Moderator Mike Schmeideler was co-creator and Show Runner for SPORTS ACTION TEAM, the semi-scripted sports comedy series syndicated by MGM Worldwide Television.

The Producers Panel takes place at 6:30 pm sharp in the theater at Landmark's Century Centre Cinema and will be immediately followed by the Chicago Premiere of Chicago-made comedy MY FRIEND'S RUBBER DUCKY, with director Josh Hyde, producers Leigh Jones, Claire Connelly and P.J. Fishwick on hand for post-show Q&A and festivities.
