As the week of the Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity comes to a close, Chicago has certainly been spotlighted as a top award-winning talent destination out of the United States, which is consistently ranked as the most-awarded country.
Between FCB Chicago and Leo Burnett, they collectively have 31 of the 38 Lions awarded to Chicago agencies so far. Leo’s Burnett’s beloved Van Gogh BnB for the Art Institute (pictured here) alone won 14 lions, bringing their Lion count to 17. FCB Chicago comes in as a close second with 14 Lions total, 8 of which were awarded to the clever execution for Contours Baby Stroller Test-Ride.
Burnett creatives on the Van Gogh Bnb were Pete Lefebvre and Mike Costello. FCB's creatives on Contours Baby Stroller were Max Geraldo and John Bleeden.
In 2015, Chicago placed as the 6th most awarded city, following New York, London, Sao Pauo, Parid, Madrid. New York agencies currently have 52 Cannes Lions and counting, so it looks like the Second City is giving the number one city, some decent competition on the world’s biggest stage for creativity.
