In the latest installment of our popular feature, freelance creative director/producer Kelly Butler, whose most recent work was as ACD at Leo Burnett, answers Five Questions with SCREEN.
SCREEN: Any embarrassing story from pre-adulthood or adulthood you care to share?
BUTLER: When I was a teenager, my dad glued my bedroom window shut so I couldn't sneak out. I asked him, "What if there's a fire?" He said, "You'll die a virgin."
SCREEN: Guilty pleasure TV?
BUTLER: I could waste an entire day watching any home improvement show on HGTV.
SCREEN: Celebrity crush?
BUTLER: Well, with the current X-FILES reboot, and the fact that I am a sci-fi nerd, it's a toss up between David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson. Both are attractive, smart, witty and I've literally seen all the past X-FILES episodes multiple times so I'm A HUGE fan.
SCREEN: Best advice you've ever been given?
BUTLER: No matter what your profession is, you should always have a "Fuck You" fund. That is, extra money for you to live on when you've "had it up to here." It allows you to leave a job if you're not happy and wait for the right one to come along.
SCREEN: Favorite restaurant in Chicago?
BUTLER: Did you know there is a kickass brunch place, INSIDE the Gold Coast Restoration Hardware, called 3 Arts Club Cafe? And that they serve the best cheese sandwich in the city? Well, now you do.
SCREEN: Favorite gadget?
BUTLER: I couldn't live without my Soda Stream. Without it, water is just too boring to bear.
SCREEN: Who wins the 2016 presidential election?
BUTLER: I hate talking politics with strangers so I respectfully am skipping this question.
