NBC Says Yes to CHICAGO JUSTICE... And Maybe Another???
May 12, 2016 by Mike McNamara
That was quick! CHICAGO JUSTICE, the legally-loaded fourth series of Dick Wolf's "One Chicago" franchise, debuted by way of CHICAGO P.D. episode #321 Wednesday night, and was immediately picked up to series by NBC, the first new drama series order at the network this season.
Why the speedy verdict from NBC execs? The embedded spinoff episode of CHICAGO P.D. won the 9 pm CST hour Wednesday night with a 1.4 rating in 18-49 and 6.8 million viewers.
CHICAGO JUSTICE becomes the fourth Dick Wolf series for Chicago, but might there be plans for a fifth? When The Hollywood Reporter posed the question recently, Wolf confirmed he already has an idea for a fifth series. "Yes," he said with a smile. "But I'm not going to tell you what it is."
For now, let's celebrate a FOURTH Chicago series that Mr. Wolf, Peter Jankowski, Matt Olmstead, Derek Haas, Michael Brandt, Arthur Forney and their talented team have brought to Chicago. And this announcement caps off a week chock full of great news for the city, with Fox greenlighting THE EXORCIST and A.P.B. earlier this week (here's my article with full details on the new Fox shows)
