Billy Dec Finds His Director

The Chicago-based production company Elston Films and its co-founder Billy Dec are moving ever closer to production on their first feature. The team has announced Emmy winner Anthony Hemingway as director for their first feature film, BURY THE LEAD, the journalism drama, written by Justin Kremer, and acquired from The Black List. Hemingway's credits include EMPIRE, UNDERGROUND and AMERICAN CRIME STORY, which recently nabbed the Emmy for Outstanding Limited Series,

“Anthony’s directorial approach and his ‘sui generis’ vision really allows the audience to live inside the space,” explains DeAnna Cooper, President of Elston Films.

Producers include Elston principals DeAnna Cooper, Kevin Cooper, Billy Dec and Kat Stephans. Executive producer is Madhouse Entertainment’s Adam Kolbrenner.

BURY THE LEAD centers around a talented journalist on a quest for a Pulitzer Price who fabricates the truth to create a compelling news story. But when his concocted conspiracy becomes real, right and wrong become entangled as his career, family and life are engulfed in murder and mayhem.
