Cannes Duo Leads Panel Tonight at Midwest Independent Film Festival

Writer-director Anahita Ghazvinizadeh and producer Zoe Sua Cho are set to premiere their feature THEY at the 70th annual Cannes Film Festival this month. But before they head to Cannes, they'll be at Landmark's Century Centre Cinema Tuesday at the Midwest Independent Film Festival on the fest's PRODUCERS PANEL, which kicks off the evening at 6:30 pm right in the theater. The panel will be followed by the fest's inaugural ANIMATION SHOWCASE. Moderator will be producer and IFP Chicago Executive Director Nicole Bernardi-Reis. Ghazvinizadeh and Sua Cho will be joined on the panel by Adam Sobel, director of the Sundance and HotDocs 2017 critics pick THE WORKERS CUP.

Adam Sobel, Director, THE WORKERS CUP. Adam recently moved back to Chicago after spending five years living in Qatar. He's produced journalism and documentaries for outlets including The Guardian, CNN, and BBC. His feature film debut, THE WORKERS CUP, premiered on opening night at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival and continues to screen at festivals around the world.

Anahita Ghazvinizadeh, Writer/Director, THEY. Ms. Ghazvinizadeh's short film NEEDLE won the Cinéfondation First Prize from the Festival de Cannes in 2013, a Silver Hugo from the Chicago International Film Festival, and Best Short Film, Best Directing and Best Short Screenplay Awards from the Festival of the Iranian Cinema. She was named one of Filmmaker magazine’s 25 New Faces of Independent Cinema and was a writing fellow at the Sundance Screenwriters’ Lab. Anahita’s latest movie THEY will be premiere next month at Cannes 2017.

Zoe Sua Cho, Co-Founder, Mass Ornament Films. Zoe Sua Cho is a filmmaker and co-founder of transnational film collective, Mass Ornament Films. Committed to artistic collaborations and alternative production, her latest feature, THEY, will make its World Premiere at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival. She was selected as a 2016 Film Independent Project Involve Producing Fellow.
