AbelCine is bringing the latest in cinema technology to the Midwest film community with the Chicago Cinema Tech Expo on October 7 at Cinespace Film Studios.
The free event will showcase the latest gear and cinema technology from manufacturers including ARRI, Canon, Panasonic, RED, Sony, Zeiss and more. The all-day expo will also feature workshops, classes and community activities, providing an opportunity for attendees to try new gear, ask questions and network.
Activities planed at the Expo include a speed-dating style mixer presented by Stage 18 and a roundtable discussion on incubating diverse voices presented by Kartemquin Films and Free Spirit Media. AbelCine will also be hosting breakout workshops, including Digital Cameras for Producers co-presented by IFP Chicago and AbelCine’s National Training Manager, Jeff Lee.
“Our goal in developing the Cinema Tech Expo is to create something for local imagemakers where they can come together around new gear, community, education and creativity. We see this as part of our mission to become an ongoing educational resource for Chicago and beyond,” said Pete Abel, CEO of AbelCine. “The expo is also our chance to get manufacturers and their latest gear in front of the thriving Midwest production industry, as we think it’s imperative that as many people as possible get to experience new technology. We want to be a regional hub, bringing together manufacturers, community partners, film commissions, and of course filmmakers themselves.”
