COLD WAR Midwest Premiere Tonight

The Midwest premiere of COLD WAR, the debut feature of Ogilvy & Mather's Stirling McLaughlin, is set for tonight at the Midwest Independent Film Festival at the Landmark Century Theatre, 2828 N. Clark St. The film screens at 7:30 p.m. and is preceded by a producer's panel on the post production process. Doors open at 6 p.m.

The award-winning creative director, whose resume includes exceedingly popular spots for M&M's, Miller Lite and partnered with college friend and writer Wilder Konschak who was inspired by a real flu and a real girlfriend (who's now his wife). It's a personal confession about dealing with the worst parts of your favorite person.

"From the very first time I read the script five or six years ago, I just fell in love with the honesty of it," McLaughlin told SCREEN last year. "The whole story deals with those really intimate, awkward exchanges between people when they’re trying to really get to know each other at the beginning of the relationship. Add on top of that a couple of 104 degree fevers and I just thought that was a great story."

In COLD WAR, Maggie, a fiercely independent young woman, has just moved in with her sweet boyfriend, Jon. Before they’ve finished unpacking, they’re both struck with the worst flu in years. Trapped at home, spending every living, breathing, suffering moment together, their week becomes the ultimate test of their relationship: can they weather the cold without resorting to murder?

This month's producer's panel will be moderated by Producer Colleen Griffen, panelists include Tyler Roth, Senior Colorist at Company 3; Beast editor Dean Gonzalez; and Audio Engineer John Wong from Periscope Post and Audio.

This panel discussion will focus on the post process to educate filmmakers on what steps they need to plan on and budget for in a proper post procedure. How to enhance their story through post, what is involved with each of the different aspects, and what kind of things to expect. Topics will cover editing, color correction and audio.
