Michael Glover Smith's Next Feature

Rendezvous Films LLC announces today the principal cast and crew of RENDEZVOUS IN CHICAGO, the third feature film of Chicago-based independent writer/director Michael Glover Smith. The film is the final part of a loose trilogy of films about relationships following Smith’s first two features, COOL APOCALYPSE and MERCURY IN RETROGRADE. RENDEZVOUS IN CHICAGO is a comedic anthology comprised of three separate vignettes that correspond to the beginning, middle and end stages of a relationship. The vignettes are titled: The Brothers Karamazov, Cats and Dogs and The End is the Beginning. Shooting will commence in Chicago’s Uptown and Rogers Park neighborhoods and in suburban Glenview this May.

Announcing the Cast and Crew

The cast includes Clare Cooney (who also served as casting director and whose own short film as writer/director/star, RUNNER, is currently playing the festival circuit), Kevin Wehby (who starred in both of Smith’s previous features), Rashaad Hall (of the Emmy-nominated web series BROWN GIRLS), Matthew Sherbach (CHICAGO PD), Nina Ganet (HENRY GAMBLE'S BIRTHDAY PARTY) and Shane Simmons (reuniting with Smith after MERCURY IN RETROGRADE). Producing is Layne Marie Williams for her Women of the Now production company. David McNulty (CONRAD) will executive produce, Alex Halstead (CALLIOPE) will shoot, and Eric Marsh (ORDERS) will edit.

Smith’s most recent film, MERCURY IN RETROGRADE, had its World Premiere at the Full Bloom Film Festival in Statesville, NC, last fall where it won the award for Best Narrative Feature. It recently had a sold-out local premiere at the Gene Siskel Film Center and was the subject of a rave review by Richard Roeper who called it “"absolutely beautiful...a smart, funny, quietly effective and authentic slice of older millennial life... Smith has a deft touch for dialogue, creating six distinct characters who look and sound like people we know... the interaction between the uniformly excellent actors feels natural and unforced."
